PCOM COVID-19

TECHNICAL WORKING GROUP

Amidst the pandemic around February of 2020, a concerted effort of the National Officers and Board of Directors and with the help of committed members of PCOM sparked the dawning of a new era of Occupational Health heroes that were given the role to be the PCOM COVID-19 Technical Working Group.

The main objective is to assist and evaluate the needs of PCOM members and other Occupational Health practitioners and medical practitioners in the rapid change of the face of workplace health and safety.

The team brainstorms and collates various releases and updates both locally and abroad to formulate user- friendly easy to understand guidelines, workplace advisories and infographics to be used not only in the practice of Occupational Safety and Health but also in the employers perspective across various industries.

Thus far, the PCOM COVID TWG consisting of 12 members, already released eleven (11) health advisories and infographics and four (4) COVID-19 guidelines. These are all based on scientific evidences, best practices, researches and releases here in the country and around the world.

The TWG together with other medical societies participated in the development and crafting of the Unified COVID Algorithm on Return to Work spearheaded by the Health Professional Alliance Against COVID ( HPAAC).

The team was also invited by the Department of Health (DOH) in its nationwide launch on Infection Prevention Control in the workplace campaign. They were tasked to give insights on ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.

Indeed their hands are full as the team represents PCOM in various invites and speaking engagements to online conventions, webinars, and press conferences imparting its role in the fight against the Covid-19.

To date, the TWG remains active in the pursuit of quality, factual, relevant, timely, and cost efficient delivery of Occupational Health for all.
